PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Glenn Tarver Unitarian Congregations across North America are experiencing the same challenges, declining membership (as are most religions) and difficulties attracting ministers. Fortunately, we have many years of experience being lay-led. We haven’t employed a full-time minister for about a decade. A lot of other congregations are just getting started addressing this new reality.
Our Sunday Services Committee week after week continually provides us with excellent informative and diverse presentations organized by skilled congregation service leaders. And now, the Reverend Lynn Harrison, recently retired from her |

position at Toronto First, has been contracted for a monthly service for the next year. What an excellent outcome for Don Heights. And her Sunday musical selections are a wonderful bonus. Additionally, Janis Daly has been exploring lay ministry and will be offering her presentations throughout the coming year. Meanwhile, the highly focused and deeply committed Don Heights Growing Our Congregation Committee has made significant progress over the past six months. There have been well-considered improvements to our physical space and Sunday services formats. We continue to meet and discuss other exciting possibilities for attracting new faces. I’ll address these in future messages after we firm up our plans. |

Coffeehouse Friday will be a treatWayne Neon will be lighting up our stage at Don Heights on Friday, October 13 at Bill's Coffeehouse, renamed in memory of founder, DH member and musician Bill Clelland. The show starts at 8 pm live and on Zoom. It's always a great time: two feature sets sandwiching an open mic portion where all entertainers are welcome to perform. Performers can sign up in advance and guests can confirm their attendance using this form, but pre-registration is not required. Just show up and be prepared to have a good time over coffee, tea and cookies for a suggested cover charge of $5 (or PWYC) to help defray costs. We ensure that our feature performers are paid fairly. Zoom doors opening at 7:45 pm and traditional doors open at 7:15 pm.
