PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Glenn Tarver Growing Our Congregation
The 2023 Don Heights initiative DHGROW which addresses declining membership has evolved significantly. Last autumn, representatives from Toronto First and Neighbourhood were invited to our meetings because of similar concerns. We have since expanded to become UUGTAGROW, which includes the Mississauga, Durham, North West and Huronia congregations. Our priority is membership rejuvenation and renewal. Our Mission Statement is “ to support the growth and vibrancy of GTA Unitarian congregations by sharing outreach techniques, comparing results, and pooling resources”. There were seventeen representatives from six congregations at our most recent meeting. Kalvin Drake ( Toronto First ) provided relevant information from an earlier undertaking UU Greater Toronto. A steering committee with one of two representatives from each congregation will work collaboratively to identify strategies with mutual benefits. Together and strong. and from everyone at Don Heights, congratulations to our esteemed author-in-residence Sheila White on her recent high-profile TVO interview on The Agenda with Steve Paikin. |
New Members WelcomedSave the Date(s)Our Annual General Meeting will be Sunday April 21, 1 pm. Please save the date. As always, we are looking for people with fresh insights to serve on the Board of Directors. Board meetings are scheduled for the second Tuesday of every month. They usually are 60 to 90 minutes in length. Please consider this opportunity to serve our congregation. Speak to John Kennedy, Nominating Committee Chair, about a potential role for you.
Reserve Saturday, April 27 for our free Peace Concert, open to all musicians and audience members and staged with the hope of raising donated funds to contribute to Doctors Against Borders. |
A stunning concert coming on Friday, May 24 at 8:00 pm
